Privacy Policy

LankaOffers (lankaoffers.lk) lists hotel and restaurant offers from across Sri Lanka. This page explains what information we collect, why, and what you can do about it. If you have a question, write to us at support@lankaoffers.lk.

If you are browsing offers

You do not need an account to browse, and we do not ask who you are.

• No advertising or analytics trackers. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels or similar tracking scripts.
• Offer views and clicks. When you open an offer, or press one of its buttons - to call, book or visit a website - we record that it happened, so we and the business can tell how offers perform. Alongside it we note the country you are in (worked out from your IP address), the kind of device, browser and operating system you use, and how you reached our site - for example from a search engine, social media, another website or a campaign link. Your IP address and browsing session are stored only in a scrambled form that cannot be turned back into the original. None of this identifies you, and it is not shared with anyone outside our team except as totals.
• Server logs. Like almost every website, our web server keeps routine logs of requests (such as IP address, browser and the page requested) for security and to fix problems. Failed attempts to sign in to an account are recorded with the IP address they came from, so that repeated password guessing can be blocked. These are kept for a limited period and are not used to profile you.

If you have a publisher account

To publish offers we need to know who to deal with. We collect:

• Your name and email address. Your email address is how you sign in, and how we contact you about your account and your offers. We ask you to confirm it.
• Your password, stored only as a secure hash. Nobody at LankaOffers can read it.
• A phone number, if you choose to add one, so we can call or WhatsApp you about your offers.
• If you sign in with Google: the name and email address on your Google account and its Google account ID, so we can recognise you next time. We never see or store your Google password.
• The offers you submit: business details, descriptions, prices, dates, photos, and any public contact details you choose to include.
• Messages you send to our team through your account, and any files you attach to them.

What is public

Once we approve an offer, its content is shown to everyone on the site: the business name, the offer text, photos, prices, dates and any public phone number or website you entered for it. Your account email address, your account phone number and your messages to us are not shown publicly.

How we use your information

• To run your account and let you sign in.
• To review, publish and manage the offers you submit.
• To contact you about your account and your offers.
• To send emails you need, such as confirming your email address, resetting your password, and updates about your offers. We do not send marketing emails.
• To keep the site secure and prevent spam and abuse.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who else handles it

We use a small number of service providers to run the site. They handle your information only to provide their service to us:

• A hosting provider - runs our servers and stores the site's data.
• An email delivery service - delivers the emails the site sends.
• An email provider - hosts our support mailbox, so it holds emails you send us.
• Google - only if you choose to sign in with Google.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect people from fraud or harm.

Cookies

We use only the cookies the site needs to work: one that keeps you signed in, and one that protects forms against forgery. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information for as long as you have an account. When you delete an offer it is taken off the site; we may keep a copy in our records for a while to deal with disputes or abuse. If you ask us to close your account, we will delete your personal information, except where we need to keep something to meet a legal obligation.

Your choices and rights

You can update your name and phone number on your profile page at any time. You can also ask us to send you a copy of the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete your account, by writing to support@lankaoffers.lk. Depending on where you live, data protection laws - including Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022 - may give you these and other rights.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection, passwords are stored as secure hashes, and access to our systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Children

Publisher accounts are for businesses and are not intended for anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
